It’s pretty obvious that true crime is having a pretty big pop culture moment, thanks to zeitgeisty, water-cooler-ready phenomenons likeSerial, NPR’s podcast about a real-life murder in 1999 Baltimore; and “The Jinx” HBO’s miniseries about real estate scion turned murder suspectRobert Durst, so it’s not too shocking that someone likeRyan Murphyis getting in on the action.
Murphy—the man behind other pop culture phenoms like “Glee” and “American Horror Story” is creating a new FX miniseries based on the famedOJ Simpsoncase. And—because Murphy is known to stick with actors he’s worked with before—he’s cast Season 1 AHS cast-memberConnie Brittonin the role ofFaye Resnick, a close friend of the athlete’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, and current AHS starSarah Paulson, though we don’t yet know what role she’ll be playing.
“American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson” also features other big names, includingJohn Travolta,Cuba Gooding, Jr.,David Schwimmer, andCourtney B. Vance, and will air in 2019.
